Self-Supporting Testing Portal Frames

Testing portal frames for tests on prefabricated concrete (tubes, beams, joists, kerb pieces, etc) wood (beams, boards, etc), etc

They are mainly intended as independent units. On the other hand, if they are powered by hydraulic systems, they may be combined with other testing machines (compression on concrete, tensile on steels, etc)* as well. Their main application is in cases where the special size or characteristics make a specimen impossible to be tested in conventional machines. (*) See combined installations.

Our Technical Department studies particular cases. Taking into consideration the materials to be tested, the testing methods with their special requirements and the standards to be applied. All factors relevant for the machine design will be taken into consideration (e.g: maximum load, free distances, raising systems, testing devices, auxiliary systems such as extensometers, vertical deflection measurement, etc).

In brief: testing portal frames are a sort of equipment specifically tailored to special, wholly-defined static tests. According to the machine series and capacity, a fast and easily-built light concrete foundation will be required

  Portal Testing Frames Classitication

IBERTEST testing frames range covers different power systems (hydraulic or electro-mechanic) and types of testing frame (welded or with columns). The following table summarizes all of them:

Series PELIB... PEF... PEV... PFIB...
Power system Electromechanic Hydraulic
Testing frame Two screw drivers and two guide columns Welded Columns (2 or 4 depending on capacity)
Upper crosshead displacement system Screw drivers and guide columns Fixed crosshead By drill holes in the pillars and anchoring bolts. These are fixed by means of an external overhead crane, either manually (pulley and counterweights) or motorized By means of an automatic, hydraulic locking / unlocking system and lateral hydraulic jacks
Control system MDA: Digital micro-processed programmable module. Fitted with a sensitive number keyboard, an emergency stop, an RS232 and a Centronics output -----
W: computerized. Including a last generation Pentium computer, 17" colour screen, 32 bits WINTEST® software package, and the associated electronics
Type of control Load (kN/s) and displacement (mm/min)   Load (kN/s). Optionally, displacement (mm/min) Load (kN/s) and displacement (mm/min) by means of a magnetostrictive transducer located inside the hydraulic actuator.
Class  1 as per ISO 7.500
Standard capacities 50, 100, 150, 200, 250 y 300 kN 50, 100, 150, 200, 250 y 500 kN 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 400, 500, 600 y 750 kN
(*) In case of: a) loads higher than 1000 kN; b) where more than one hydraulic jack or actuator are needed; c) where different loads, large structures, strong floors, and other features do apply: See: "Testing Portal Frames For Prefabricated Structural Elements".
